New album riding high after VCD success

The cover album of C Star SumerLatest compilation album C Star Sumer is riding high on the charts after proving a big hit during Lao New Year.

Released only a few days before the festival, the compilation VCD album consists of performances of bands and solo artists.

Featured are Fuzion, Pretty Cool, L-Zone, Anaconda, Jittaphone, Sayasith, Kool and Lily including 13 songs with a variety of flavour such as pop, rock and r&b.

The hottest on radio, Lao TV channels and on home stereos are the tracks Hak Vao Tae Pak by Pretty Cool and Bor Yark Kin Hell (Don't Want to Disappoint) by Fuzion.

Fuzion band member Anoulack Saiyaseng (also known as Fanta) said the group was happy to see the public support.

“We've contributed two songs to this album and we're so happy that our songs became a hit rapidly, since we just released them on this VCD edition.”

“Before we co-released this compilation album we had already released several tracks for radio. We are now working on another 10 songs in the studio for an album which will feature a variety of genres, including pop, r&b and dance,” Anoulack said.

“We released our first music video, Nangfa (Angel), at the beginning of last year and it became well known and received a good response from the public. This encouraged us to continue making other videos and songs.”

The music video for Fuzion's Bor Yark Kin Hell has already been released on Lao National Television, and the band is set to appear on Lao Star Channel soon.

“This song comprises funny lyrics and unique dancing styles, and we hope people will enjoy it as much as our first video,” Anoulack said.

Fuzion is a new pop band whose four members are part of the Lao Bangfai Breakdancing Association dance group. They are Anoulack Saiyaseng, Dethdala Soundala (Jackie), Anoulath Phothisan (Anou) and Kitthisak Phounsavath (Ta) - all well-known for their breakdancing skills.

The band burst onto the Lao music scene with their track Nangfa, which describes four lonely men wishing for an angel to fulfil their dreams and make them happy.
