At his high school, he taught Lao as one of the foreign language classes. He studied his native language and literature and, today, he has the ability to read and write in Lao which is not easy when you grow up in the States. Alex served seven years on active duty with the Navy from the age of 18 where he even got decorated with the Army Commendation Medal for his intensive work on the Emergency Team during the attacks of 9-11 on the Pentagon. After his army service, Alex moved to Washington, DC where he fell in love with the music culture of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggeaton. He sounds of its drum sounds and snares (Dembow) enticed him and Alex decided to bring the same passion to Lao people. He transformed Reggeaton into Laoggaeton by creating the song "Thia Longe". His key influences stem from one main source: Lao people and culture. Next to that, Alex is submerged in Spanish culture because of his neighborhood demographics it also became part of him. Combining Lao and Spanish culture created a great new mixture that will bring something different to our entertainment life. Alex said about this:"We have so many talented Lao artists like Gumby, SupaSang, L.O.G., Laostha, Aluna, Sam, Cells, and many many more who have brought our Lao people hip-hop, pop, r&b, and rock music with our language. I figured...why not do something else on my own? Maybe people will like it. Who knows?" You bet, Alex!Next to his career in music, Alex has worked on several commercials, feature and independent films, Broadway theatre musicals and tv shows. He is a man of many talents and we are happy we can show you a few.
