| The rose of Laos is no other than Alexandra Thidavanh Bounxouei (Bounxouay). She has restored the pride of the Laotian people in their music.
Before "Alexandra" became a household name, there was a growing concern in the country that the Lao language will become obsolete in the near future. The popularity of Thai music in Laos has such an effect that many people felt they were being "culturally invaded" by neighboring Thailand.
Alexandra has given hope to the Lao music industry. She is the country's first teen pop idol. At the age of 16, Alexandra took the country by storm with her concert in Vientiane.
The phenomenon of Alexandra is described by VOA, "Sixteen year-old Alexandra, or Thidavanh Bounxouei, is a new phenomenon in the entertainment scene in Laos".
